Konami has just launched the much-anticipated Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse game this October. Castlevania is one of Konami’s most renowned game series dating back to the 1980s. Now Konami has extended its Gothic Dracula franchise with the release of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse on October 15.

1. The Original Game Announcement

Castlevania is a game series based on a generational war between the Belmont clan of vampire hunters and Count Dracula. That game franchise has been celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2026. Konami released Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse to commemorate its franchise’s anniversary. Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is the first instalment in its series since Lords of Shadow 2 in 2014.

Konami first announced Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse at the Xbox Games Showcase in 2026. The original announcement trailer confirmed Belmont’s Curse would star Rose Belmont and have a story set 23 years after the events of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse in 1499 Medieval Paris. It showcased some of the 2D exploration (Metroidvania) gameplay and whipping combat action the Castlevania series is renowned for.

One of the most defining gameplay mechanics of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, shown in the announcement trailer, is Rose’s Tarot gift cards. Those are usable Arcana spells Rose can amass by defeating Dracula’s servants. Players can incrementally upgrade those Arcana spells.

Konami has launched Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse on Windows PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. The digital base version is retailing at $29.99. An alternative cartridge/disc Midnight Edition, which comes with a digital and art gallery, is retailing at $39.99.
