《Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor》Switch 2 版本上手体验
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor | Switch 2 Impressions
One of the most gorgeous and addictive bullet heaven/survivors-like titles, based on the iconic co-op mining survivor game, has dropped to Nintendo‘s latest hybrid console – on paper, the perfect place to play such a game.
So, how does it run there, and does the game still hold up and keep being fresh almost 3 years of updates since its first public release? Let’s find out – this is DayOne‘s impressions of the Switch 2 version of Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor!

Digging deep
With the game unfortunately not supporting cross-progression or cross-save between platforms, this is actually my third time starting this game. I’ve been addicted to it on PC in 2024 when it was in early access, to a point it made my personal Top 10 games of the year. Then when it came to Xbox in 2025, I’ve once again put serious hours into it – first for my review of the 1.0 version of the game, then for my own pleasure. It’s 2026, and now I’ve been grinding the game on Switch 2 – particularly during my flight back and forth to Los Angeles for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 review event.
Needless to say, I really love Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor. The bullet heaven/survivors-like formula, popularized and perfected by Vampire Survivors, has been revamped in a smart fashion here, as the high-octane auto-shooting action has been mixed with gorgeous top-down 3D graphics and a mighty satisfying mining mechanic, which can be used to create strategic paths to outmanouver the countless opponents around us. With the game having received various free updates and some major DLC content drops alike, the game really is better than ever today, and a great starting point for anyone looking for a mechanically simple, yet engaging and addictive title.

It doesn’t mine the experience
With the game handling attacks automatically, the player mainly has to focus on managing their build via upgrades and the movement itself – thus, even the relatively weak sticks on the Joy-Cons make for a perfectly fine experience, as I’ve found no issue manouvering between caves with precision even in handheld mode. Content-wise, everything you can find in other console versions is there, from this year’s Endless Mode update down to the cosmetic DLCs even. It is by all means a complete version of the game, one we expect to also receive any possible future update and DLC that might be released from now on.
I would say there’s only one notable compromise here – the framerate. The game is locked at 30FPS both in handheld and docked mode, which is a bit of a shame as the animations and general presentation of the game definitely feel choppier. However, this is a mechanically very simple game that doesn’t demand pixel perfect precision and split second decisions – so while my eyes needed a little getting used to the lower framerate, I’ve found it to be a perfectly enjoyable experience nonetheless. Watching some background TV on the couch while grinding some high level Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor mission on the Switch 2 – peak gaming, let me tell you. Oh, the game supports the Joy-Cons‘ mouse mode, if you desire aiming with that. I feel it’s a bit superfluous, as the game controls better with a thumbstick – but more options never hurt anybody.

Still one of the bests
I feel like there’s not a lot else to add here. Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is one of the best-looking and most addictive bullet heaven titles out there, featuring enough distinguishing features to stand out from the thousands of similar games, and packing a depth that warrants dozens of hours of gameplay. This Switch 2 version of the game has all the content and the years of updates the game’s got, with very little compromises in terms of visuals and performance. If you have any interest in the genre and you’re looking for something to play on Nintendo’s latest console, I think Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor can’t be missing from your library.
