Xbox is reportedly queuing up for three more layoff rounds starting as soon as this month
The layoffs will indeed continue at Microsoft’s Xbox until morale of investors and executives improves. Following the layoffs that affected first-party studios this past September, early word is coming forth that three more layoff rounds are coming as the brand’s CEO Asha Sharma continues to “reset” the brand.
Anonymous sources who claim to be familiar with Xbox’s plans say that the next series of firings could begin as early as this month, followed by another round this November and yet more firings in January 2027. Insiders do state that these plans may change, however.
As for what studios are next on the chopping block, that hasn’t been confirmed, though Fortune’s report does point out that Sharma has “more layoffs to complete and more studios to consolidate,” so we’re likely going to hear more about just what — and more importantly who — will be affected fairly shortly.
