Rockstar has released the launch trailer for GTA 6, which shows us brand new footage of Jason and Lucia as well as the open world.

The trailer, which weighs in at 1:30, touches on Jason's troubled past, which involved leaving the army not on the best of terms. We see snippets of a steamy shower scene with Lucia, who is wearing an ankle tag, and plenty of explosive open-world action.

Rather than showing gameplay, the launch trailer showcases cinematic action in GTA 6 as it nears its November 19 launch. As per Rockstar's partnership with Sony, the PS5 is prominent in the trailer, with the "plays best on PS5" message displayed at the start. The trailer confirms the footage was "captured on PS5."

The trailer begins with some narration from Jason. "I got in some trouble in the army," he begins. "Didn't leave on the best of terms. They don't give loans or anything to people like me." We see a bearded Jason working at Brian's Marina, buffing a boat before he receives a call from Lucia Caminos. Presumably this is the call Jason gets to pick up Lucia from prison.

We're shown what look like flashbacks to Jason's time in the army, where he appears to have been in the special forces. We see him wading through water as part of a military unit, and leaping out of a helicopter while on some sort of mission. But these scenes could easily be set in the "present," rather than the past, with Jason gearing up for, perhaps, a police operation. Either way, it explains why Jason is so handy with a gun.

We're then treated to various shots showing Jason and Lucia getting up to no good across Vice City, with glimpses of that steamy shower scene. The shot of Lucia wearing an ankle tag could hint at initial restrictions to exploration, as more of the world is opened up during progression through the story, but that's speculation.

This week, we learnt about GTA 6's sweat system, and there's a shot in the launch trailer that looks to show this in action. We see a man working out, and he's putting a lot of effort in. Sweat? Yep, it's all there.

"Are we gonna be okay?" Lucia asks Jason after yet more explosive shots. "We stuck together through everything," Jason replies. "Just gotta get through it."

Here's the official blurb from Rockstar on the GTA 6 launch trailer:

Vice City, USA.
Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.

We also have confirmation that electronic duo Justice composed the original score for GTA 6. Indeed their track, Flower in a Hurricane, featuring fellow Grammy-winners Tame Impala and SZA along with King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, plays during the launch trailer.

It's been a busy week for GTA 6. We've got a report on what sounds like the end of Cyberleek, details of GTA 6’s sweat system, and confirmation GTA 6 is eligible for The Game Awards 2026.
