It’s time for something new in the throwback MMORPG EverQuest Legends, and we do indeed mean new, even as this one hearkens back to the 1999 era. The Castle Nektropos update is officially live today, bringing with it a new zone with a new dungeon, another race for players to roll up as, and the start of in-game Halloween.

This patch opens up the zone of Lake Nerius, the outdoor area leading its way toward the titular location, along with the dangerous canyon nearby and the instanced Castle Nektropos dungeon itself, which has been reimagined from a ruin in the original MMO to a time just before when its doomed story began.

“In this haunting tale, a servant of the Everling household, worn down by years of abuse, has taken Lord Rikantus Everling’s prized enchanted sword and slain all seven Everling daughters. Lord Rikantus has gone mad and begun raising the dead. His estranged surviving son, Lord Ollix Everling, now asks players to help put the house to rest.”

Other primary features of the update include the arrival of the new Half Dark Elf playable race and its starting zone of the Nektropos Undercroft, as well as a Halloween event running from now until Tuesday, November 3rd, where players can get their hands on a free werewolf pet illusion and take on a quest themed around the Half Dark Elves for another pet illusion of their choice.
