华硕游戏笔记本RMA返修后神秘内存短缺
ASUS Gaming Laptop Returns from RMA with Mysterious RAM Shortage
华硕2023 Zerphyrus G14(GA402XY)游戏本在荷兰RMA返修后缺失原配16 GB SODIMM RAM,仅剩板载16 GB。该机购时预装32 GB RAM(16 GB soldered+16 GB SODIMM),用户凭收据交涉数周,客服拒认并未解决。
Given ASUS's recent history with warranty repairs, it's likely unsurprising to some to learn that the company has been embroiled in yet another RMA drama. This time, a Reddit user who goes by u/Thriceinabluemoon posted in r/ASUS about their experience sending a 2023 ASUS Zerphyrus G14 in for repair under an extended warranty and receiving the laptop back without its 16 GB SODIMM RAM stick. While this in itself would be a frustration, ASUS customer support in the Netherlands, where the laptop and extended warranty were purchased and serviced, "won't even recognize that the additional RAM came with the product," never mind correcting the issue.
The redditor explains in the comment thread on the original post that the laptop was purchased with 32 GB of RAM—16 GB soldered and 16 GB installed in a SODIMM slot—and it's that same SODIMM stick it was purchased with that has gone missing during the repair process. They have since contacted ASUS, providing the receipt as evidence that the laptop was purchased with 32 GB of RAM pre-installed and have yet to hear back from support with a resolution.
u/Thriceinabluemoon on RedditThe story: thanks to the extended warranty I purchased, I was able to get an RMA in the Netherlands for a g14 2023 with 32gb of ram (GA402XY). They replaced the motherboard and sent back the laptop with only one of the two 16gb RAM sticks (in the 2023 model, only one is soldered). For the last few weeks, I have been trying to get ASUS to solve the issue, but have had no luck so far (customer support won't even recognized that the additional RAM came with the product). My advice: there seem to be an issue with RAM theft in the repair center in the Netherlands, so I strongly advise to remove the RAM stick before sending it in for repairs.
There have been suggestions in the comments that perhaps ASUS replaced the motherboard and simply overlooked re-installing the SODIMM stick, while others have theorized that there has been some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication between repair and customer service departments, but it's concerning nonetheless that ASUS hasn't addressed the issue in a response to the customer. Unfortunately, the comments are also littered with similar horror stories, some from ASUS, others relating to other laptop brands, with one commenter telling of an Acer Predator Helios 18 that was sent in with 64 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage and returned from warranty repair with 1 TB of storage and 32 GB of RAM.
