BBL beat EYEBALLERS 2-0 in the third upper bracket quarter-final of the PGL Bucharest Closed Qualifier 2026 on Friday 16 October. The result keeps them on the upper side of the playoff bracket.
The best-of-three never went to a decider, but it was far from a stroll at the start. The opening map ran to 79 minutes before BBL closed it out. The second was settled in 40, barely half that length.
BBL end a three-match slide
The win arrives at a useful moment for BBL. Their previous three outings were all defeats: 2-1 to JiJieHao and 2-1 to Liquid at Stake Pulse Beat III 2026, and before that 2-0 to NIP at ROG Journey Autumn 2026. Prior to that run they had won back-to-back 2-1 series against FOKUS and BC.Game Esports at the same ROG Journey event.
On paper, this was the expected outcome. BBL came in ranked 123rd in the Elo power rankings with a rating of 1618, while EYEBALLERS sat 165th on 1572. BBL’s record now reads 15-15 across 30 rated matches, an even split that says plenty about how up and down their autumn has been.
A second win over EYEBALLERS in a month
This is also the second time in under a month that BBL have got the better of this opponent. The sides met on 18 September at Logitech G Play Connect 2026, where BBL won a single map 1-0. Friday’s series doubled the margin.
For EYEBALLERS, it is now three straight series defeats. Before this, they lost 2-0 to K27 and 2-1 to magic at 1win Private Club #1 2026. Their last wins came at Logitech G Play Connect, 1-0 results against Infinite and Inner Circle Esports. A squad featuring veterans such as KRIMZ and JW carries a 41-38 record from 79 rated matches, with plenty of experience but little recent reward.
ex-RUSTEC wait on Saturday
The rest of the upper bracket quarter-finals have already given the qualifier some shape. Betclic Apogee Esports edged Eternal Fire 2-1, Team Nemesis needed three maps to get past Nuclear TigeRES, and ex-RUSTEC swept GamerLegion 2-0. Nuclear TigeRES bounced back immediately in lower bracket round 1, beating Eternal Fire 2-0.
That ex-RUSTEC sweep sets the bar for BBL’s next assignment. The two meet on Saturday 17 October, with BBL needing a second straight series win to keep their run going after the slump that preceded this event.
