ex-RUSTEC won 2-0 against Nordic Partners Gaming on Monday 12 October in the third quarter-final of the PGL Bucharest Open Qualifier #1 2027. The best-of-three in the playoffs was their second series win of the event. Earlier, they had edged DIVINITY 1-0 in Round of 16 Match 6.
On paper, this looked one-sided. ex-RUSTEC came in 69th in the Elo power rankings with a rating of 1684 and a 43-25 record across 68 rated matches. NPG, the Malta-based roster, sat 343rd on 1466, with a 7-15 record from 22 rated matches.
An 81-minute opener before a 50-minute finish
The scoreline hides how long the first map ran. It went 81 minutes before ex-RUSTEC took it, a proper grind for a side rated so far above its opponent.
Map two was far quicker. ex-RUSTEC closed it out in 50 minutes to seal the series without dropping a map.
NPG had earned their place in the last eight with a 1-0 win over FOKUS in Round of 16 Match 5. Their form beforehand had been patchy. They lost 0-1 to Spirit Academy Black in the Stake Ranked Episode 6 open qualifier, and at ROG Journey Autumn 2026 they beat Lilmix but fell to Sinners and 100 Thieves.
Four series wins and a PGL Bucharest qualifier title for ex-RUSTEC
The quarter-final turned out to be one stop on a title run. ex-RUSTEC followed it with a 2-0 semi-final win over The Golden Horde, who had reached that stage by beating Inner Circle Academy and then GenOne 2-1.
The grand final was tighter. Nuclear TigeRES had cruised there with 2-0 wins over XI Esport and Johnny Speeds, and they took ex-RUSTEC to three maps before going down 2-1. That made four series won from four in the qualifier for ex-RUSTEC.
It was a welcome turnaround from their last outing. At CCT Europe Series #10 2026, they beat Butterfly 2-1 before losing 0-2 to Iberian Soul.
