Five New Games To Test Your Friends

As ever, the idea is to get a group together and see what happens when everyone is given a prompt, a little time to think and the freedom to come up with something completely ridiculous. The Jackbox Party Pack 12 contains five different games, each with its own spin on group entertainment.

• We Forgot a Card: Create absurd greeting cards for wonderfully bizarre occasions. Some of your creations can even be purchased in real life.
• MegaPals: Put friendships and supposed mind-reading skills to the test with wordplay and explosive match-ups. The challenge is to discover how closely everyone’s answers align.
• Debate and Switch: Take on light-hearted topics in a town hall-style debating contest. Expect strong opinions, even when the subject hardly deserves them.
• Idol Factions: Race against another team to sort answers into the correct categories in a fast-paced battle of facts.
• Hyperface: Manipulate selfies and stock photos by smudging, stretching, squashing and drawing over them to answer bizarre prompts.

That gives the pack a decent spread of activities, from creative silliness to quick-fire knowledge challenges. Whether your group thrives on making each other laugh or prefers a competitive argument over something trivial, there’s a different format to try.

Phones At The Ready – Everyone Can Join In

You don’t need a room full of extra controllers to get started. Only one person needs to own the game, while everyone else can use their phones as controllers to join the fun. That makes it a handy option for parties, family gatherings and evenings when there’s a crowd but not enough traditional gamepads to go around.

The five games also offer different ways to bring people into the action, whether they’re creating a daft greeting card, trying to predict a friend’s answer or shouting out categories before the other team gets there first.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
