The Wizards of the Coast trading card game has welcomed a plethora of new crossover content throughout the course of 2026. Main sets have brought a new crossover with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and expansions of Magic's collaborations with Marvel and the Middle-earth franchise. Secret Lairs have introduced even more exciting crossover cards to the game, including the recent Corn Maze Superdrop, which added new cards themed around Marvel: Zombies, KPop Demon Hunters, and Jim Henson's Labyrinth. Now, Wizards of the Coast is getting ready to show fans everything they can expect from the game's upcoming collaboration with Star Trek.
Magic: The Gathering Confirms Star Trek Debut
- October 20, 10:00 a.m. PT
Magic: The Gathering has officially revealed the date and time for its upcoming Star Trek Debut presentation. The broadcast is expected to showcase a multitude of new cards coming as part of the Star Trek set, said to span all 60 years of the iconic sci-fi franchise's history. The teaser visual showcases a new card based on the USS Enterprise, potentially being the "Starship Enterprise" card previously mentioned on the Captain Kirk Commander card. Wizards of the Coast is also expected to show off the lineup of products coming with the Star Trek set, including new Commander Decks, the Beam Me Up Bundle, and more. Magic: The Gathering's Star Trek Debut is scheduled for October 20 at 10:00 a.m. PT.

The upcoming collaboration between Magic: The Gathering and Star Trek is set to bring a wealth of new cards to the game across its many products. The Star Trek set will debut with two Scene Boxes, much like several past Universes Beyond sets, which will each contain six exclusive cards that combine to form a full scene. The expansion features four Commander Decks themed around iconic Star Trek characters, including decks for Captain Picard, Spock, the Borg Queen, and Worf. The crossover will also introduce autographed cards based on Star Trek's captains, showcasing signed cards of Captain Kirk, Captain Picard, and Captain Janeway.
The launch of Magic's newest crossover set has not been without issues, even ahead of its official release. Wizards of the Coast recently confirmed that the planned Beginner's Boxes for the Star Trek set were being canceled due to distribution and production issues. Magic: The Gathering is also experiencing early delays for the Star Trek expansion, sharing that products like the Commander Decks, Bundles, and Draft Night boxes will be delayed in multiple regions worldwide.
Wizards of the Coast has set itself up for another busy year on the horizon, with plenty of exciting releases coming soon. Magic: The Gathering will launch three in-universe expansions in 2027, debuting Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, Kamigawa Titanbreach, and Zhalfir. The trading card game has already revealed its first crossover set of 2027 as well, teaming up with Marvel once again for Darkhold Destiny, which tells an original story featuring some of the comic book juggernaut's most iconic characters, like Blade and Doctor Strange. Magic: The Gathering fans should have plenty to look forward to from the game's stacked 2027 schedule.
