AMD Expected to Launch 8-Core/16-Thread Ryzen AI 7 HX 455 CPU With 16 CU Integrated Graphics and 24 MB L3 Cache
The AMD Gorgon Point is reportedly having another family member soon. Prominent leaker Golden Pig Upgrade has leaked another SKU in the family, which will sit right above the AMD Ryzen AI 7 450 CPU. The Gorgon Point is a refreshed Zen 5 family, which succeeds the Ryzen AI 7/9 300 chips, aka the Strix Point, and currently offers several SKUs with up to 12 cores and a 24-thread configuration.
The upcoming CPU is reportedly called Ryzen AI 7 HX 455, which seems to sit right above the Ryzen AI 7 450. As you might expect, the Ryzen AI 7 HX 455 will have the same core/thread configuration as the Ryzen AI 7 450, featuring 8 cores and 16 threads. This should be the same 4x Zen 5 + 4x Zen 5c configuration as the Ryzen AI 7 450. However, the iGPU will be totally different.
The leaker says that the Ryzen AI 7 HX 455 will have a full 16 Compute Units-based Radeon 890M integrated graphics, making it an interesting addition to the family. The Ryzen AI 7 450 features Radeon 860M, with only 8 Compute Units. So, we have double the graphical power without having to resort to a higher CPU core configuration. You will only find the Radeon 890M on the 12-core Strix Point/Gorgon Point variants, which makes them suitable for gaming.
One more interesting thing about the Ryzen AI 7 HX 455 is that it won't feature just 16 MB of L3 cache, as the leaker suggests the chip will carry 24 MB of L3 Cache, which is the same size as found on Ryzen AI 9 HX 470/475. So, it's a really powerful APU for mobile devices that could help cut down costs while maintaining solid gaming performance. At the moment, we don't know all the details about the CPU, including detailed specs or the availability date.
