Wreckfest 2 Content Update #9 Adds New Tracks, Cars and Game Modes

Wreckfest 2 Content Update #9 is available today, bringing four new tracks, three cars, two game modes and several improvements to the driving and damage physics. The update also includes better multiplayer connectivity, in-game car design sharing and some adjustments to how vehicles handle collisions.
The new tracks include The Drome, which features two layouts called Deathloop 2 and Double Cross, along with the Hogtown map, which adds a small demolition derby arena and a mud oval. Players also have six new challenge events to check out, while the vehicle lineup grows with the Flipper, a European 90s hot hatch, the Blade, an American 80s muscle car and the Hammerhead, a European 80s wagon.
Two new game modes have also been added, starting with Chase, where runners attempt to reach the finish line while chasers try to catch them before they get there. In single-player, players take on a group of AI opponents trying to stop them, while multiplayer splits everyone into teams of runners and chasers. The new Demolition Derby mode ranks players based on their scores without allowing respawns, making every collision a little more important.
There are some changes to the existing derby modes as well, including a new rival system that can award extra points for going after the opponent who has caused the most damage. Players can now earn points for spinning opponents, while improvements to the scoring system should help prevent missed or incorrectly awarded points.
On the gameplay side, vehicles now feature more detailed visual damage and improved collision detection, along with adjustments to how much punishment they can take. Cars will suffer more damage once their armor sections are completely destroyed, while hitting objects around the track will cause less damage in normal damage mode. The developers have also reduced the chances of oil disruption when using realistic damage settings.
The camera system has received some attention too, with a more responsive chase camera, additional customization options and a closer dashboard view for players who prefer driving from inside the car. Cockpit camera positioning has also been improved, rounding out an update that covers quite a few areas of the game. The full list of changes and fixes can be found in the official patch notes on Steam.
