Dragonfire Patch 3 makes Yellow Zone Small Portals much easier to find, but cuts their Fame and loot by 30%. Use them when frequent, lower-risk access matters more than payout. Red and Black Zone Small Portals keep their previous reward level, while Medium and Large Portal rewards are unchanged.

Updated: October 13, 2026.

Yellow, Red, Black, Medium, or Large?

Portal choice Patch 3 change Best use
Yellow Zone Small Average spawn time drops from 45 minutes to 15.5 minutes; Fame and loot fall 30% Frequent, lower-risk runs when access matters more than rewards
Red or Black Zone Small Regional spawn chance rises from 25% to 33%; entry window grows from 8 to 10 minutes; rewards stay unchanged Groups willing to accept PvP risk for the previous Small Portal payout
Medium Mob health and damage fall 10%; rewards stay unchanged Groups that want a steadier run without the Yellow Small reward reduction
Large Spawn chance rises 50%; mob health and damage fall 20%; rewards stay unchanged Organized groups looking for the larger encounter when it appears

What changed for Ancient Lands portals

Sandbox Interactive’s October 12 update also raises the Yellow Zone Small Portal regional spawn chance from 25% to 33%, cuts its lock time from 15 minutes to 5 minutes, and extends the entry window from 8 minutes to 10 minutes. Large Portals become more likely during prime time.

Players comparing this update with the previous Dragonfire Patch 2 loot and Item Freeze changes should treat Patch 3 as the access-and-portal follow-up. The 30% reward cut applies to Yellow Zone Small Portals, not every Ancient Lands portal.

Other changes that affect a run

Four regular Drake chests shift roughly 10% of their value into the central Fire Drake chest, which has a higher chance to contain the new artifact items. Small and Medium islands now require the Drake kill to complete the quest.

In Dragon Sanctuary, Maeve summons two additional boulders below 40% health instead of three, with the maximum reduced from six to five. Primal Dragon Flame’s normal damage falls from 1,250 to 1,150, and Storm Spires appear every 55 seconds instead of 45. Open-world Dragons return to the last 20% health threshold reached after a reset instead of fully healing.

Official Dragonfire Patch 3 changelog

The figures above come from Sandbox Interactive’s official Albion Online Dragonfire Patch 3 changelog, version 32.030.1, published October 12, 2026.
