A Bird Story keyart — A Bird Story – now on console

Don’t think that a game always needs dialogue, sprawling worlds or hours of combat to tell a memorable story. A Bird Story, the wordless pixel-art adventure from the creator of To the Moon and Finding Paradise, has returned in a remastered edition, bringing its short, heartfelt tale to consoles for the first time.

Available now for £3.29 on the Xbox Store, this roughly one-hour experience follows a lonely boy who discovers an injured bird, blurring the line between reality and imagination.

A Small Story With A Big Heart

Originally released on Steam in 2014, A Bird Story is a standalone narrative with its own beginning and ending. Rather than relying on dialogue, it tells its story through pixel animation, visual storytelling and the shifting boundary between a boy’s everyday life and his imagination.

The remaster brings a range of technical improvements while preserving the original’s distinctive charm. Players can expect a true 16:9 presentation, resolutions of up to 4K and support for frame rates up to 120Hz. There’s also higher-quality background music, new console achievements and DualSense haptic support on PS5.

Best of all, existing Steam owners receive the remastered update for free.

A Chance To Discover A Freebird Games Favourite

With its short runtime and wordless approach, A Bird Story offers something rather different from a traditional adventure game. It’s a compact, self-contained experience for anyone who appreciates games that put storytelling and atmosphere ahead of elaborate mechanics.

A Bird Story, in remastered form, is available now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, alongside its Steam release. Xbox players can pick it up for £3.29 from the Xbox Store, making this a small adventure that won’t demand a huge investment of either time or money.
