《恶魔城：Belmont's Curse》成为系列二十年来评分最高作品

Following the successful release of their Castlevania-themed crossover with Dead Cells back in 2023, studio Evil Empire is once again partnering with Konami – this time working on a full-blown brand new Castlevania game. Set to officially launch tomorrow on the 15th of October, critic reviews for Belmont's Curse have now gone live; becoming the highest-rated entry in the series from the past two-decades.

With a Metacritic score of 86 and an Open Critic rating of 85, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is currently positioned as the 6th highest-rated entry in the franchise’s history, nestled between the DS exclusive ‘Portrait of Ruin’ (85) and the GBA’s Harmony of Dissonance (87).

Timeline-wise, Belmont’s curse is the highest rated entry in the Castlevania series from the past two-decades, with scores this high not being seen since 2005’s Dawn of Sorrow (which amassed an 89).

All that said, Belmont’s Curse did not resonate entirely with everyone. While some critics describe the latest entry as “one of the best Castlevania games ever made,” others have lamented the fact that it doesn’t do enough to stand out from the crowd of Metroidvanias which have been released in the decades since Castlevania’s hey-day.

Still, for many, Belmont’s Curse is worth checking out and playing, bringing the iconic Castlevania series back from the dead in more ways than one. While perhaps not the peak of the genre, it certainly seems to be up there when compared to other entries in this classic franchise.
