Nvidia is said to have delayed its RTX 60 series lineup following ongoing memory shortages and uncontrollable prices. At the same time, console manufacturers like Sony are struggling with pricing as they plan for new hardware’s arrival.
On the subject of new hardware, a popular leaker claims that the PS6 will be more powerful than the GeForce RTX 6060.
Why it matters: The PS6 could have a major advantage over gaming PCs if it ends up outperforming mid-range options in the market.
Leaker Kepler_L2 notes that Nvidia’s delay for the RTX 60 lineup means that it won’t launch the RTX 6060 before 2029. This will also mean that this mid-range GPU will arrive on the market after the PS6, but the leaker notes that it probably won’t be more capable than Sony’s upcoming console.
Of course, this isn’t all that surprising, considering the PS5 was also able to outperform the RTX 3060 by a small margin back when the GPU launched in 2021. The PS6 is said to be 3x more capable than the PS5 in rasterization performance, so the leaker’s statement does appear to be in line with past expectations.
Do note that Nvidia’s recent mid-range graphics cards haven’t been all that impressive. Kepler_L2 suggests that the RTX 6060 will continue this trend, though it could still have a few software perks to make up for the lack of raw performance.
