A new leak involving a classic PS2 adventure game could be good news for PlayStation 5 users. The leak reveals a remastered version of the 2004 game with updated graphics, new features, and expanded co-op options.

According to Gematsu, a Microsoft Store listing for Shrek 2 Remastered, an unannounced game developed by Aspyr, appeared online. The game is expected to be officially announced during the ID@Xbox Showcase on October 20, 2026.

However, the leak originated from a Microsoft Store listing for Xbox Series X|S. But there has been no official announcement regarding the PS5 version. However, since the game originally launched on PS2, PlayStation 5 users can remain hopeful for a positive update when an official announcement is made.

What to expect from the Shrek 2 remaster?

The remaster retains the original game’s core gameplay while introducing improved graphics and new features. These new features allow players to create timeless snapshots using the new Photo Mode and also unlock cheats in Cheat Mode for a seamless gaming experience.

According to the Microsoft Store, the official description reads, “Journey through the fairytale kingdom of Far Far Away from Shrek’s swamp to Fiona’s castle and everywhere in between, in a classic action-adventure experience inspired by the DreamWorks Animation movie. Play solo or with up to three friends in cooperative play, take control of your favorite Shrek heroes as you smash, throw, and kick your way against iconic characters from the franchise.”

The remaster will support up to four players in local co-op, online multiplayer, or a mix of both. Players can revisit familiar locations from the movies, from Shrek’s swamp to the castle in Far Far Away. Players can also switch between heroes at any time to battle enemies. They can use each hero’s unique abilities to defeat bosses and solve environmental puzzles.
