Naughty Dog is working on new The Last Of Us 'projects'

On Monday, Neil Druckmann announced on the Naughty Dog blog that the studio is, indeed, working on more The Last of Us content. He did not specify further, except that there are "a couple of very exciting new projects in very early stages" that will "expand the canon of The Last of Us beyond Part I and Part II." Naughty Dog hasn't shared whether these are standalone games or expansions for existing titles.
Druckmann added that Naughty Dog wouldn't head back into the world of The Last of Us "unless we had something meaningful to say.
Naughty Dog's blog post isn't much to go on, but it does give a peek into the studio's current direction. In August, the studio announced it had wrapped up its "very ambitious Intergalactic cinematic shoot."
If that sounds familiar, that's because Druckmann posted something very similar on social media in 2019 when Naughty Dog wrapped its "most ambitious cinematic shoot [it's] ever done"—for The Last of Us Part II. That game was released in 2020. Naughty Dog was previously working on The Last of Us Online, a live service version in the original games' world. The company scrapped that project, officially, in 2023.

Since The Last of Us Part II's release, Naughty Dog has vowed to eliminate crunch, according to quality assurance lead Patrick Gross in the studio's self-made documentary. However, Bloomberg reported in December that the studio crunched to meet a deadline for an Intergalactic demo.
Beyond The Last of Us, Druckmann said that Naughty Dog is "heads down on what is shaping up to be Naughty Dog's most ambitious game yet," Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, a science fiction adventure game.. The studio won't share anything about the game until 2027, when Naughty Dog will "fully reveal" the game.
