SteelSeries is continuing its push into high‑rate wireless polling with a new addition to its lineup: the Rival 8K, a mouse built around Ultra‑Wideband wireless and true 8000Hz polling.

The Rival 8K arrives as part of SteelSeries’ wider 8K initiative, which aims to move high‑rate polling away from the congested 2.4GHz band. Ultra‑Wideband operates across a much wider slice of spectrum, giving the mouse significantly more bandwidth to maintain stable 8K reporting without interference from nearby wireless devices. SteelSeries says this helps deliver smoother cursor movement, lower input delay and more consistent tracking during fast gameplay.

To support 8K polling over wireless, the Rival 8K uses the company’s Infinite Power System, a hot‑swappable dual‑battery setup that allows one battery to charge while the other is in use. SteelSeries claims this enables “8K all day” operation without the usual battery‑drain compromises associated with high‑rate polling.

The Rival 8K launches alongside the Sensei Pro and Rival Pro series, all part of SteelSeries’ 25th‑anniversary refresh of its esports peripherals. The new models are available globally through SteelSeries.com and retail partners, with UK pricing set at £169.99 for both full‑size and mini versions. A wireless travel dongle is also available exclusively through SteelSeries’ online store.
