Kepler Says AMD is Expected to Launch RDNA 5 at Computex 2027 at the Earliest, But a Delayed Launch is Likely

Prominent Leaker Kepler_L2 has once again revealed some crucial information regarding AMD's next-gen GPU architecture launch. Kepler has previously mentioned that AMD will launch its RDNA 5 lineup in 2027, but as far as the timeframe is concerned, it expects that AMD won't likely launch it in the first half of the year.

On the Anand Tech Forums, the leaker was asked about the launch date for RDNA 5. One user asked if RDNA 5 will launch in the next 3-5 months, to which Kepler replied in negative. Then someone asked if RDNA 5 is going to see a launch in June, and Kepler replied that Computex 2027 is the earliest timeline when we can expect AMD to launch the new GPU series.

A forum discussion among users about the potential release date of AMD RDNA 5 cards, with one user suggesting June 2027 and another replying Computex 2027 at the earliest, but most likely later in the year.

Computex 2027 will be held in the first week of June, but Kepler doesn't appear to be so sure of the launch time. He says that it's likely that the GPU family will launch in the latter part of 2027. Keep in mind that this is speculation, and we don't have any official information regarding RDNA 5's launch. However, going by all the reports surrounding RDNA 5, it appears that at least one GPU will launch in 2027.

The rest of the SKUs in the RDNA 5 family will likely end up launching in 2028 alongside NVIDIA's Rubin-based RTX 60 series. The one RDNA 5 GPU expected to launch in 2027 is likely the AT2 variant, which will boast 40 Compute Units, although some reports also mention 70. Nonetheless, we shouldn't expect the full stack to be released next year.

A forum post by user Kepler_L2 highlights a discussion about future releases, with the statement '4GB GDDR7 will not be used for next generation consumer parts' prominently displayed.

One more crucial piece of information regarding RDNA 5 that the leaker talked about is that it won't use the upcoming 4 GB GDDR7 memory chips. If you have been following us, you would know that memory makers are expected to mass-produce 4 GB and 6 GB GDDR7 memory chips in the next two years, which coincide with the launch timeframe of next-gen GPUs. However, Kepler says that next-gen cards won't be using 4 GB GDDR7 chips, which means neither AMD nor NVIDIA will switch to higher capacity.
