If there's one thing Game of Thrones taught us, it's that ruling a kingdom is rarely as easy as sitting on a fancy throne. Between political betrayals, bloody battles, and the occasional dragon attack, keeping your crown can be quite the challenge.

Fortunately, if you're planning to build your own medieval empire, having The Mountain on your side sounds like a pretty good place to start – and that’s exactly what’s happening in Legacy of Valor, an upcoming action-strategy RPG from Black Banner Studios.

Legacy of Valor Is Bringing The Mountain to Its Medieval World

In a recent community update on Steam, the studio announced that Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, the Icelandic actor and strongman best known for portraying Ser Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane in HBO's Game of Thrones, has officially joined the cast of the game.

And if you're curious about what role he'll play, we won't have to wait too long to find out, as the development team is still keeping the details under wraps.

The good news is that we won't have to wait long to learn more, either. Björnsson will appear at Poznań Game Arena 2026 on Friday, October 23, where the developer plans to reveal more about his role in Legacy of Valor during a special presentation on the event's main stage. Oh, and visitors will also have the opportunity to meet the actor at the studio's booth, take photos, and get autographs.

The studio announced that Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, the Icelandic actor and strongman best known for portraying Ser Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane in HBO's Game of Thrones, has officially joined the cast of the game.

Of course, Björnsson's involvement isn't the only thing the studio is bringing to the event. Legacy of Valor will have two playable demos spread across 16 gaming stations, giving visitors a closer look at how the ambitious project has evolved.

The first demo will showcase an updated version of the game's RPG experience, featuring revamped combat mechanics, gameplay systems, and a glimpse into its medieval world. The second, meanwhile, will offer something a little more ambitious: large-scale battles featuring thousands of active soldiers fighting in real time.

Players will be able to fight directly on the battlefield using third-person combat while simultaneously commanding their armies. It's an intriguing combination of action RPG and strategy gameplay, and one that Black Banner Studios says is a major part of its vision for the project.

For those unfamiliar with the project, Legacy of Valor is set in a world inspired by 14th-century Europe. Players begin by reclaiming an abandoned ancestral home before rebuilding their settlement, developing their castle, recruiting armies, and gradually expanding their influence. So, if you can make it to PGA this year, from October 23 to 25, there'll be a lovely empire-builder demo waiting for you!

Last but not least, Black Banner Studios also explained why it has been relatively quiet in recent months. Following its Kickstarter campaign, development expanded considerably, with the team rebuilding its original prototype technology and working on a new combat system, updated animations, expanded RPG and strategy mechanics, and multiplayer technology.

This makes the upcoming event an important opportunity to see how much the project has changed. And with Björnsson joining the cast, there's now another reason to keep an eye on the game.
