Zavvi has entered administration and ceased trading, and customers with unfulfilled orders are being told to contact their bank or payment provider to try to recover their money.
In an announcement posted to its webstore on 12 October 2026, the company said the affairs, business and property of Zavvi are under the control of Joint Administrators and that trading is stopping because of its financial position. Outstanding orders and preorders will not be fulfilled.
What customers should do
The announcement sets out a clear first step for anyone who has paid for goods that have not arrived. It reads: “Customers should contact their bank, card issuer or payment provider promptly to establish whether they may be entitled to recover their payment. Depending on the payment method and the circumstances of the transaction, customers may be able to make a claim” .
The company also acknowledged the concern this leaves for shoppers: “We appreciate that customers who have paid for goods that have not been received will be concerned about their orders and payments” .
The bank or card issuer is the place to start rather than the retailer. The company statement says customers may be entitled to recover their payment, not that they will be.
The site is still live, but do not buy
The Zavvi website remains online, and both outlets covering the announcement warn that customers should not place new purchases there. One reporter found the checkout would not complete a purchase in a quick test, though the company’s warning covers any new order regardless. Shoppers arriving through old links or searches risk paying for goods that will never ship.
Zavvi is best known among film collectors for its large Blu-ray and 4K catalogue, including sought-after steelbooks, alongside pop-culture collectibles and gaming merchandise. The company shut its physical stores in the late 2000s and survived as an online retailer, so administration does not necessarily mean the end of the name; it is a rescue process that aims to give a company a path back to sustainability.
