EA关停BioWare后确认《星球大战：前线3》《漫威钢铁侠》与《绝地：幸存者》续作将推出

Alongside news of another wave of layoffs and BioWare’s closure, we have received confirmation straight from EA that Motive’s Iron Man and Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi 3 are still in development. Plus, DICE and Respawn will work together on an all-new project that Variety’s sources say is Star Wars Battlefront 3.

While it’s nice to get an update straight from the horse’s mouth about Iron Man and the (expected) final Jedi game, it’s Battlefront 3 that’s been making the rounds this week as rumours heated up. Some sources pointed to Destiny and Marathon developer Bungie potentially being in the mix as Lucasfilm Games looked for new partners, but it seems the series will return to DICE, now supported by Respawn, who led the charge on the Jedi trilogy and helped Bit Reactor crack Star Wars Zero Company. EA has yet to officially announce its title.

It’s indeed a dream pairing for another large-scale Star Wars shooter, one that could potentially toy with all sorts of new characters, locations, and whatnot introduced to the canon since Battlefront 2 stopped getting updates back in 2020. With new Star Wars movies (including a new trilogy) on the way, it makes sense that everyone has finally decided having a big ongoing online title is worth the effort.

Diehard players of EA and DICE’s two previous Star Wars Battlefront games never lost hope, pushing for yearly “resurgence” events and keeping the spark alive on socials and by actually playing the second entry on consoles and PC. Its staying power has been large enough to make waves year after year, which has no doubt pushed Lucasfilm and EA to sit down and figure something out.

Still, it’s a shame this update arrives as we’re mourning the death of one of the most influential Western RPG developers of all time.
