NVIDIA is reportedly preparing a GeForce RTX 5080 with 24GB of GDDR7 memory for release in the first quarter of 2027. Taiwanese media BenchLife says it would replace the current RTX 5080, which has 16GB of GDDR7 memory.

Board partners like ASUS and Gigabyte have reportedly not received development materials for the new card, and have only been told verbally that the information is on the way. It is also unclear whether the 24GB model is the same card previously rumoured to be the RTX 5080 Super.

BenchLife also reports that NVIDIA has stopped supplying GB202 chips to board partners for GeForce RTX 5090 production. This reportedly includes the China-specific RTX 5090 D and RTX 5090 D V2. The chips are being directed towards NVIDIA’s higher-margin RTX Pro cards instead. Existing GeForce cards made with chips already held by partners could still reach retailers, but further supply may be limited – and expect prices to shoot up even further northwards.

BenchLife describes this as an internal allocation change rather than a formal end-of-life move and NVIDIA has not confirmed what it means for the RTX 5090’s longer-term future. But your guess is as good as mine.
