Handhelds are witnessing rapid price hikes due to soaring component costs, and one handheld has already hit twice its MSRP.

Legion Go Gen 2 That Launched at $1479 Last Year Hits $3,000 for 32 GB + 2 TB Configuration

Almost every handheld console has received a price hike in 2026, and we continue to see ridiculously priced handhelds these days. Thanks to the worsening DRAM and SSD availability, most manufacturers have implemented multiple price adjustments this year, and we now see some handhelds touching or exceeding twice their original MSRP.

Lenovo's one of the fastest gaming handhelds that launched last year has now broken the $3,000 barrier. Legion Go Gen 2, which launched last year with its 32 GB + 2 TB configuration at $1,479, has just touched $3,081 on the official website, marking its highest retail price since launch. Even at that price, the Legion Go Gen 2 handheld isn't in stock, and the page says "Available Soon".

A Lenovo Legion Go Gen 2 handheld console with a futuristic game on screen is labeled 'Available Soon' and priced at $3,081.99, with a rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 88 reviews.

The Legion Go Gen 2 uses the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme SoC, which is an 8-core/16-thread chip with Radeon 890M integrated graphics. It's specially designed for low-power devices such as handhelds and operates in the 15-35W TDP range. Legion Go Gen 2 was already an expensive option before RAMpocalypse, but now it has become an unaffordable option. The handheld was already retailing for $2,849 in April this year, putting it well out of reach for most consumers.

The image shows a Lenovo Legion Go Gen 2 handheld gaming device with an AMD Ryzen Z2 processor, 32GB of memory, and a 2TB SSD displayed in front of its carrying case, priced at $2,799.00.

As far as retailer listings are concerned, most configurations for the Legion Go Gen 2 are unavailable. However, Walmart supposedly has the 32 GB + 2 TB configuration as well as the 32 GB + 8 TB one. The 32 GB + 2 TB variant has been listed at $2,799, which is much lower than what Lenovo shows on the official website. It's possible that the price tag will increase in the coming days to match Lenovo's official listing.

The 32 GB + 8 TB configuration is also currently available at Walmart for a whopping $3,999. So, if you want a lot of storage for a lot of games, you will need to spend nearly $1000 more for an additional 6 TB of storage.;
