I am pretty sure rain is broken, I am getting very frequent rain in one world (nearly once every 2 ingame days), none in other.
Also I am getting wandering trader selling the same stuff repeatedly, not sure if this is related.
I think some pseudo random number generator is broken.
Have consumed heart crystal (and mana crystal) in both worlds (one is post moonlord other is pre wall of flesh) (so windy days and rain should be able to spawn).
Attached in .wld and .plr files. (prehardmode world is smoggy... and the other one boundary of dogs is post ML).
Please let me know if this is really a bug or just poor luck.
This wandering trader always spawns at the ice pylon and is always called shipton. sells the same items. always in the same order. this seems broken.
Sometimes different traders show up, but their items seem totally deterministic on their name, no randomness at all.

@Grox The Great 🌳 Can you please check this bug out, has been over 100 days in world (Smoggy boonies of the land file). its not raining at all. and other one, rain is nearly once every 2 days. seems to be connected to the wandering trader too.

the wandering trader riley also seems to be selling same items in 1.4.5.8, Please look at this issue.

I can confirm this bug (GOG, Linux, 1.4.5.8), furthermore I've noticed other broken randomness like dye plants repeatedly growing in the exact same location.

I also at one point save-scummed to get paintball gun; I had a setup where the painter would drown shortly after the world load, so I didn't have to move or do anything except for terminating Terraria if the gun wouldn't drop. Soon I noticed that the random events were exactly the same, including the same slime jumping onscreen after exactly the same time, so I had to move around after all to introduce some randomness. It would seem that the game doesn't randomize its RNG from the system clock or the like?

For now I have a workaround: either play in some other world before my main one, or just don't close Terraria after playing, because RNG resets on program restart, but apparently not on leaving the world. This way, I eventually had both random rains and new trader wares.

Can confirm your findings, In my main world rain always seems to start within 2 mins of me loging in. and if the travelling merchant spawns early he is called shipton. Also i suspect mushrooms growing in roughly the same spot. In other world i dont get rain at all. Unless i keep game running for an hour in background and then open it, then rarely i do get rain.
