Cyberpunk 2077 didn't get off to the best start when it originally launched in 2020, but it's now considered a success story. Since then, CD Projekt Red has polished it up, rolled out an animated Netflix series, and released a Switch 2 version of the title.

A second game is also in development, and now, to add to all of this, a live-action movie set in the "Cyberpunk 2077" video game universe is in the works. According to the latest report, it's being done by Paramount Pictures, and "Transformers" movie producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura is working alongside CDPR on the film.

CD Projekt Red's co-CEO Michal Nowakowski has responded to the latest reports with the following statement:

Michał Nowakowski: "We're excited about Paramount as a future partner who shares our creative ambitions for the Cyberpunk franchise. We look forward to sharing more details at the appropriate time."

There's no mention of a release window or information about the cast or story at this early stage. In the games, the character Johnny Silverhand is portrayed by the Canadian actor Keanu Reeves. The English actor Idris Elba was also added to the cast as Solomon Reed in the Phantom Liberty expansion.

If you want to get up to speed with Cyberpunk 2077, the Ultimate Edition (containing the base game and expansion) is available right now on the Switch 2. We said it was "preem" in our review, awarding it nine out of ten stars.

Would you be interested in a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action movie? Have you played the game yet? Let us know in the comments.
