Canceled Assassin’s Creed Destiny Footage Shows Leap of Faith and Stealth Kills in Ancient China, Plus an Umbrella-Like Spinning Weapon
An unannounced (and now canceled) game titled Assassin's Creed Destiny leaked via MP1st, which provided details on its development and even some footage.
According to the report, Destiny was a major project for PC and consoles set during China's Qin Dynasty in 206 BCE, a few years later than Assassin's Creed Jade, the mobile game that is reportedly still in development after several years of silence. Like Jade, it was in development at TiMi Studios; however, the Chinese developer was caught in a major restructuring in early 2025, and Assassin's Creed Destiny was canceled shortly afterward. It's not the only big game canceled at TiMi in the past few years: MP1st also claims they were working on a Greek-mythology-themed action game codenamed Athena and on a stylized open world cyberpunk game, which was being directed by Ashraf Ismail, the co-director of Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
MP1st managed to find the images and videos from the portfolios of developers who worked on Destiny. The footage shows a mission in which a female assassin must retrieve a mysterious artifact hidden within a sacred palace under siege by the historical figure Xiang Yu and his army. There's also a quick peek at early development of a boss battle featuring the Chinese warlord.
Beyond this mission, the leaked Assassin's Creed Destiny footage showcases other gameplay mechanics, such as the series' classic stealth kills and the signature leap of faith. One clip features the player character using an umbrella-like spinning weapon in a test environment with placeholder graphics, complete with ink-brush-style ability icons, a health bar, and a fancy bar adorned with a yin-yang symbol. Other animations display a male character using parkour moves to take out enemies. Perhaps players were able to choose the gender of their character, or maybe the game simply had a dual protagonist like Assassin's Creed Shadows.
Following Shadows, the next installment in Ubisoft's prized franchise is the game codenamed Hexe. The game was first teased over four years ago, and we still only have rumors and leaks rather than official info. A few months ago, Ubisoft leaker Rogue revealed that the protagonist, a woman named Anika, is a descendant of Claudia Auditore, the sister of the former beloved protagonist Ezio Auditore. Even more interestingly, somehow Ezio himself will be available as an aged mentor figure, despite the game allegedly taking place during the Würzburg witch trials of 1625–1631. In July, Rogue added that Assassin's Creed Hexe is currently targeting a June 2027 launch window, though it could slip further.
