宝可梦系列玩家不关心的道具
Items you don't care for
宝可梦系列玩家列举了各自在游戏中从不使用或不关心的道具类型。有玩家指出 gen 9 将一次性道具改为不消耗(树果除外),并认为 gen 8 与 gen 9 修复了旧作多项问题。

Are there any items/types of items in the series you just never find yourself using?

Probably an odd one to say but berries. All of them. Reading about them just made feel it adds to the long list of GF just "not wanting to give in", I suppose it helps it kicked off my obsession to try prove them wrong that "no, it's not a deep mechanic to gatekeep them behind time and make them mysterious and hard to find". I can't complain too much, because I did prove this wrong By playing romhacks that sell you berries, and they were still fun, so this means GF's gamedesign is outdated. Which is why I think gen 8 and gen 9 are really underrated in a lot of ways, they fix many issues with older Pokémon that romhacks also fix.
Also, to flip the script, one item I love but never see anyone praiseis leftovers, I get it's popular in competitive play, but I use it in my casual playthroughs as well
Pretty much any one-use item that's not easily renewable. I don't play competitive personally, so until gen 9 where they made them replenish, items like the focus sash were completely useless to me.

There have been quite a few items introduced each generation, so below are the ones that stood out to me when first introduced:
Pokémon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum: I never used the items that extended weather effects for 8 turns (e.g. Heat Rock for sunlight, Smooth Rock for sandstorm, etc). For me, most in-game battles did not last long enough to justify using said items.
Pokémon Black/White: I never used the stat-boosting Gem items found in the cave dust clouds. I was more annoyed with them as I wanted a Pokémon encounter, not another useless Gem!
Pokémon Sword/Shield: I never used any of the 'newer' competitive battling items, such as Blunder Policy, Eject Pack, Grass Seed, Throat Spray, Heavy Duty Boots, etc. They are often too niche or they are taking up a held item spot for such little gain. Instead, I defaulted to classic items, such as Leftovers, Focus Sash, Life Orb, Choice Band/Specs/Scarf, and sometimes gimmick items like BrightPowder and Quick Claw (to which I had mixed yet hilarious results).
Many one-use items. Changed them to not be consumed in Generation 9 (except berries), though. Still might not use some of them tons.
More specifically:
- Weather and terrain extension items. Not that good for single battles. Adds Seeds because of terrains being questionable to set up, outside of abilities, which is rare.
- Negative items (such as Iron Ball). Never uses Trick.
- Get hit by [type] moves for a boost (such as Snowball).
- Some Pokemon-specific items, mostly Quick Powder and Lucky Punch.
- Type resistance berries (such as Kasib Berry), pinch berries (such as Petaya Berry), and on-specific hit berries (such as Jaboca Berry). Not a competitive player.
- Binding Band, Float Stone, Weakness Policy, Blunder Policy, Power Herb, Room Service, Red Card, Eject Button, Shed Shell, and Zoom Lens. Never meets the conditions for these to be good.
On bag items: Ethers/Elixirs (prefers Leppa Berries), Revives (too powerful and usually banned), and X items (also too powerful and usually banned). Admittedly might use some of these in an Archipelago randomizer for speed.
Might have been easier to list the opposite.
Any held item.
I am aware that there are benefits & boost, but I personally forget to utilize them every playthrough lol. Interesting to see I may not be alone.

Those bitter medicinal items. Never seemed worth it, other healing items are usually easy enough to get when you need and I don't remember the prices being much lower if at all. There's just really never a situation where you're like "damn I think the only way I'll be able to make it to the next town is to buy some of those shitty roots and cocaine from the underground street vendor".
Any berry that isn't HP/status restore or EV-reducing/friendship, unless it's for PokéBlocks, etc.. Also nearly always sell off or toss my X items.
Lots of held items I haven't used. Not necessarily because I dislike them, but because I haven't raised anything I've wanted to use them on. Also less likely to use something if it's designed for scenarios that mainly come up in competitive.

One thing that sprung to mind now is potions. I find potions utilized very strangely in Pokémon, and seems pretty part of GF's design mentality of just not giving in and letting people have real agency in their battle planning, so I would frequently sell every single potion I find, and only use full restores if I have them.
Iron/Proteins/Calcium or whatever vitamin items there are.
I just play through the story casually so I don't need them. I sell them off for money.
X items, mostly. I just sell them for some extra pokedollars.

Revival Herbs are actually equivalents of Max Revives rather than regular Revives (except in Ruby/Sapphire). They're extremely powerful. The rest aren't usually worth it unless you really need to save every bit of money, though.
I don't think I've ever used any of the X items. I immediately sell them if I find them.
A very specific item, but Hard Stone. The appraisal shops in Join Avenue drop Hard Stones way too often and I'm tired of seeing them.

All those useless items that do nothing at all except get sold for high amounts of pokedollars. As well as useless items that just take up space in your inventory that cannot be sold. It's so stupid the latter exists. Like, Nuggets, I get, but not everyone will know to give the Big Nuggets to some random npc for cash. Same goes for the Comet Shard. I know bag space is infinite, but what point is there?
Also, mail in the older gens. They're pointless.
I always sell my Rare Candies; I'd rather have the cash than an extra level I can get by battling.
