Generally speaking, most developers have been able to successfully port their games to the Nintendo Switch 2, presenting a solid balance between visuals and performance – especially when playing in handheld. That said, some titles have needed more time in the oven for one reason or another. Such was the case with 007 First Light, which was initially set to arrive this past Summer. After officially announcing the delay, IOI have now confirmed that First Light will finally land onto the Switch 2 in mid-March.
Last month, the team at IO Interactive released a statement officially confirming that 007 First Light would no longer be coming to the Switch 2 in 2026, writing at the time:
“We know many of you have been looking forward to experiencing Bond’s reimagined origin story on Nintendo Switch 2, and we greatly appreciate your enthusiasm. To ensure we deliver the quality of experience players expect, we have made the decision to delay the release to March 2027, with the exact date to be communicated later. This additional time will go toward polishing the Nintendo Switch 2 performance of the game.”
It appears as though the team has already made some solid progress, releasing a brand new trailer during IGN’s Fall Fan Fest to officially confirm that 007 First Light will launch on Switch 2 on the 18th of March 2027 – with pre-orders live right now.
While understandably a step-down visually when compared to its PC and console counterparts, the footage released of First Light running on the Switch 2 does appear to be a marked improvement when compared to earlier trailers (particularly when it comes to the game’s framerate).
007 First Light was highly praised upon its initial release, and has only gotten better with time thanks to free DLC (which has helped to give the title a deeper sense of replayability). How exactly the game will look and perform in-person remains to be seen, but this latest trailer does offer a sense of confidence.
