A brand new Naruto game has been teased as part of the franchise's upcoming Project Rasengan revival, although it sounds like we might be waiting a while for whatever's next.

Although Naruto has arguably had one of the most successful gaming careers thanks to Ultimate Ninja Storm (and my personal favourite, Rise of a Ninja), it's been a good few years since he's had a new game. 2023's Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections was the last game starring everyone's favourite ninja, but some wouldn't even count that since it wasn't a fully-fledged new release.

Fans have been waiting a long time now to find out what's next for Naruto in the world of gaming, and there were high hopes that something might be announced at the aptly titled "What's Next" panel at New York Comic-Con. That wish seems to have been granted with a franchise revival plan that seems to hint at a new game.

Naruto Project Rasengan Revival Revealed At NYCC

There's Plenty Of Naruto Goodness Coming In The Next Few Years

During tonight's Naruto panel at New York Comic-Con, one of the biggest announcements was for a big franchise revival codenamed Project Rasengan. The teaser for the revival showed versions of Naruto from a bunch of different mediums, including the anime and manga, but notably featured a lot of character models from Ultimate Ninja Storm.

All of that, combined with the real-world footage of what looks like a game being worked on, seems to be a massive hint that a new Naruto game is in the works as part of the Project Rasengan revival. Video games are such a big part of this tease that I at first thought the project was specifically for a new game, but it's instead a push to bring back the series as a whole.

While it wasn't outright confirmed that a new Naruto game is in development, the Project Rasengan trailer makes it incredibly likely with how much it focused on Naruto's biggest gaming series. Considering the revival has multiple unannounced projects planned from 2027 to 2029, there's a very good chance that one of them is the game that's previously been discussed.
