According to a new report, Ubisoft has proposed voluntary departures in Düsseldorf, Berlin, and Mainz. About 100 roles could be affected if enough employees accept buyouts.
This follows earlier reports that Ubisoft plans to close RedLynx, its Finland-based development studio, and that Ubisoft Singapore is also downsizing.
Ubisoft Germany Buyout Plan Could Affect About 100 Jobs

Game File reports that Ubisoft plans to cut about 100 jobs in Germany, with more than half of the cuts expected at its Düsseldorf studio. A studio representative said discussions with the Works Council, a union-like group, have begun in Germany over a proposed voluntary departure across the brand’s Düsseldorf, Berlin, and Mainz sectors. The company has not confirmed the final scale, and buyout terms remain subject to negotiation.
“The voluntary plan is the primary measure being proposed to support the intended organizational changes,” the Ubisoft representative said.
The German studios announced planned cuts at a town hall last week. Managing director Benedikt Grindel stated the cuts aim to “best position our German studios for the future” by clarifying their roles and organizational setup.
Ubisoft Mainz developed and released the well-reviewed Anno 117: Pax Romana in November 2025. Düsseldorf is the largest of the three studios, with over 400 workers, while the other two Studios have a little over 100 workers each. More than half of the reductions are expected to affect Düsseldorf.
