如何将数据传输从 Nintendo Switch 到 Switch 2

How to Transfer Data From Nintendo Switch to Switch 2

To transfer data from a Nintendo Switch to a Nintendo Switch 2, use System Transfer during the Switch 2’s initial setup. Choose a local transfer if you have both consoles; Nintendo recommends that route when you plan to keep the old Switch. Use the server option only if you must give up the old console first, because uploading the transfer initializes the source Switch and deletes its data (Nintendo Support).

Should you use local transfer or server transfer?

Use this decision before touching either console:

Your situation Best method What happens to the old Switch
You have both consoles and will keep the original Switch Local communication Supported cloud-backup saves linked to Nintendo Accounts are copied and can remain; some unsupported or unlinked saves move off the source
You have both consoles but only want to move selected save files Individual Transfer Your Save Data process Only the selected compatible saves move; this is not a full system transfer
You must sell, trade, or give away the original Switch before getting Switch 2 Server transfer The source Switch is initialized after upload and all local data is deleted

Nintendo says server-transfer data is stored for up to one year, with an exact Download Deadline shown during setup. Do not upload until you are certain you can retrieve the data before that date. The safer default is local communication whenever both consoles will be available (Nintendo Support).

What do you need before a local Switch 2 transfer?

Prepare these items first:

  • The source Nintendo Switch and the target Nintendo Switch 2, close together.
  • Internet access for both systems.
  • Current system software on both consoles.
  • The Nintendo Account linked to a user on the source Switch.
  • Both AC adapters, so neither console loses power during the transfer.
  • A microSD Express card for Switch 2 if you want transferred downloads and captures placed there; standard Switch microSD cards are not used as Switch 2 game-storage cards.

The system-transfer prompt appears during the Switch 2’s initial setup. If you already completed setup, Nintendo says a full server transfer requires initializing the Switch 2 and starting setup again. Individual save transfer or supported cloud saves may be better if you only missed a few files.

How do you transfer data locally to Nintendo Switch 2?

Start on the new console, then move to the old one:

  1. Turn on Nintendo Switch 2 and follow initial setup until the System Transfer screen.
  2. Connect to the internet and install the system update if prompted.
  3. Select Start System Transfer.
  4. Insert a microSD Express card if you want to use one now, or select Skip.
  5. Sign in with the same Nintendo Account linked to the user on the source Switch.
  6. Select Next, place both consoles nearby, and select Done on Switch 2.
  7. On the original Switch, open System Settings from the HOME Menu.
  8. Select System, then System Transfer to Nintendo Switch 2.
  9. Select Next, review the warning, and select Done when the Switch 2 is nearby.
  10. Choose whether to redownload software and transfer Album data, then select Next.
  11. Wait for the consoles to connect. On Switch 2, select Start Download when prompted.
  12. Keep both systems powered and close together. Switch 2 restarts during the process and finishes the transfer after rebooting.
  13. When the original Switch confirms that it finished sending the data, select OK.

Do not turn off or format either system while the transfer is running. If progress stalls, follow Nintendo’s recovery prompt rather than starting a factory reset on your own.

What transfers from Switch to Switch 2?

The full transfer includes all users, linked Nintendo Accounts, friends, play activity, supported save data, screenshots and videos in system memory, registered network devices, Parental Controls, Mii data, eligible virtual-game-card status, HOME Menu icon order, and software groups. Purchased digital software is associated with the account and redownloads after setup; the download itself requires internet access.

Screenshots and videos stored on the original Switch’s microSD card may require temporarily inserting that card when the system prompts you. Nintendo Switch 2 uses microSD Express for expandable game storage, so do not assume the old card becomes the new console’s game-storage card. Our Nintendo Switch SD card guide covers storage choices for the original system; Switch 2 uses the newer Express standard.

What does not transfer to Nintendo Switch 2?

Bluetooth audio pairings, custom controller button mappings, language, region, time, and time-zone settings are not transferred. Configure them again on Switch 2.

Save behavior on the original Switch depends on the account and game:

  • During a local system transfer, cloud-backup-compatible saves for users linked to Nintendo Accounts can remain on the source and be copied to Switch 2.
  • Saves for unlinked users and games that do not support Save Data Cloud Backup are removed from the source after they move to Switch 2.
  • A server transfer initializes the source console after upload, deleting all data on it.

Shared console-level saves can need game-specific handling. Nintendo identifies Animal Crossing: New Horizons as a special case, so follow Nintendo’s current island and resident transfer instructions instead of assuming the general process covers it.

How do you use the server transfer before buying Switch 2?

On the original Switch, open System Settings > System > System Transfer to Nintendo Switch 2, choose I don’t have a Nintendo Switch 2 yet, note the Download Deadline, select the redownload and Album options you want, and upload the data. After the upload completes, the console asks you to start initialization.

When you later start Switch 2 for the first time, select Start System Transfer and sign in with the same representative Nintendo Account. Choose the uploaded package and download it before the displayed deadline. Nintendo’s official overview confirms that the two supported methods are nearby wireless transfer or temporary server upload (Nintendo).

What should you check after the transfer?

Confirm that every expected user appears, open important games to verify their saves, check the Album, and let digital titles finish redownloading. Re-pair Bluetooth audio, recreate any custom controller mapping, and set language, region, time, and time zone manually.

Keep the original Switch untouched until those checks pass if you used local communication. If a save is missing, stop before creating new data in that game and use Nintendo Support with the account name, game title, transfer method, and any on-screen error code.
