It doesn’t take a careful ear to hear the sounds of Blizzard shifting gears in World of Warcraft Forever’s road trip from announcement to launch. The reimagined classic MMO ends its three-week beta test on Friday morning, but not before running a stress test this evening. If you want to check out this stress test, you’re going to have to plan your day around it, as it’s only running from 5:00 pm eastern to 9:00 pm and requires you to have a World of Warcraft account (but not necessarily a subscription).

The next gear that Blizzard is shifting into is the name reservation period for players who purchased one of the more expensive editions. Name reservations begin in North America on October 27th at 4:00 pm eastern: “During the reservation period, eligible players can create and reserve names for up to three characters total across all rulesets.”

When WoW Forever hits launch on November 4th, both old and new dungeons will open for business. Blizzard put up an overview of the nine new dungeons coming with this version of the game, all of which are spread over a wide level range. Then the game will wait a month before unlocking its first trio of raids on December 9th: The Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit, and Onyxia’s Lair. For this last one, you’ll have to go through a lengthy attunement quest chain to gain access.
