The Pokémon Company and Game Freak are celebrating Pokémon’s 30th anniversary with a new three-volume art book collection launching on December 18, 2026, in Japan. The collection will cover all nine generations of Pokémon games, featuring approximately 1,500 pages of illustrations, concept art, development materials, and exclusive developer interviews.
The books will be published by Overlap under the supervision of The Pokémon Company and Game Freak, with Motomiya Shusuke serving as editor-in-chief. Each volume will cost 5,500 yen (approximately $35), bringing the complete collection to 16,500 yen (roughly $105).
Pokémon Art Books Cover All Nine Generations
The collection is divided into three volumes, each covering a different period of Pokémon’s history. Every book will contain approximately 500 full-color pages featuring Pokémon designs, character illustrations, promotional artwork, sprites, 3D models, and previously unpublished development materials.
Volume 1: 1996-2009
Pokemon Red and Blue
The first volume covers Pokémon’s earliest generations. It highlights the franchise’s development across the Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, and Nintendo DS eras.

Pokémon Anniversary Collection Release Date and Availability
All three books will launch simultaneously on December 18, 2026. They will be printed in full color in B5 format and sold individually through publisher Overlap’s official website.
The collection is currently confirmed exclusively for Japan, with no international release announced. However, overseas fans may be able to purchase the books through third-party import retailers, potentially with additional shipping and import fees.
