It is the year 1499. 20 years have passed since the events of Castlevania: Curse of Darkness. But darkness looms yet again as Dracula's forces attack the city of Paris. Trevor Belmont is called to investigate. Trevor leaves his daughter, Rose to venture into the destruction. Can she succeed?

You are Rose Belmont, daughter of Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades. Armed with the Legendary Vampire Killer, Rose can also use this as a grappling hook. Rose is also gifted tarot cards by her late mother which will seal a boss inside and give Rose access to their Arcana, use their skills to cast spells and obtain unique special actions. This is the first new Castlevania game since 2014's Castlevania: Lord of Shadow 2 and the first game set in the original continuity since 2008's Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. So expect a lot of what makes Castlevania so engaging. If playing the Switch version on Switch 2, the game does run at 60 fps.

A deluxe version of the game that adds a Family's Grace relic as well as costumes based on Trevor and Sypha. Additionally, if you preorder you get an Alucard costume. You also get a Sound and Art gallery as well as the entire soundtrack to the game.

Haven't played the demo yet, but I'm so stoked that this is an actual Metroidvania.

I actually just finished a SOTN run yesterday and am planning an Aria replay this week.

I played the demo for a couple of minutes yesterday and decided to wait for th full release rather than spil myself. I'm a fan of the graphics and game feel, however I've never completed a traditional Castlevania, just Lords of Shadow.

Can't wait to enjoy the fuck outta this Castlevania game.

Depends on how it performs. Such a big refresh always depends on a new fresh audience so its always a risk to alienate fans. Many franchises make this sort of mistake. Example from the top of my head is DmC.

Hyped. I enjoyed the demo. I've been on a Metroidvania kick (recently beat Castlevania AoS, DoS, and Metroid Fusion + am going through Castlevania HoD) so it's landing at a great time for me. Really weird about there not being a Switch 2 version, would have gotten it there but alas...

Can't wait to play this. So hyped to be getting a new Castlevania game! Loved the demo.

What i'm wondering is how the overall tone will be. I know I shouldn't have to worry, what with the demo, but looks can decieve and all that.

I have way to many games to play these days but I preordered months ago, very excited, please be good!

I played the demo and wasn't blown away. This is the first 2-D Castlevania I wait for reviews with. Hopeful there is more to it as I'm not feeling it just yet.

Contemplating between getting this at launch using my $10 coupon at Gamestop or waiting for Black Friday & instead nab the Dominus Collection for $12.50....

......crap, the PSN sale ended, back to full price....Alright, that option is out the window.

I want this on switch 2, but I'm honestly not biting on this switch 1 version until i hear if they are going to make a switch 2 version or not. I'm not going to buy something on the hope of a free update, only for it to cost money again.

Do we know at what time this releases?

OP, might be worth mentioning that the Switch demo for the game apparently ran better on Switch 2. Granted, we don't know if that'll apply to the full game, but that info may be helpful to people.

I'm tempted by the fanatical deal. But figure I should wait for reviews to drop. Personally I'm okay with what I've heard of it not feeling like SotN. I love Silksong though so hoping this can scratch the itch. I haven't tried the demo though

I know it's been answered by a few already that this has nothing to do with the Netflix canon, but many of the antagonist characters in the series don't ever stay dead. Chronologically, this is Carmilla's first appearance in the mainline games. She existed as a background character who killed Sypha Belandes' family before the events of Dracula's Curse, which is why Sypha went to hide within the Church.

I have a really good feeling about this game

I had slightly mixed feelings on the demo, but I was pretty intrigued overall once I got used to it.

But I'm baffled about there not being a proper Switch 2 version, which has made picking a platform (or committing at release) more difficult for me. It doesn't look awful by any means, but I can't help thinking how much better it could look running native.
