With the unofficial discontinuation of the flagship NVIDIA Blackwell GPU, many retailers have now stopped selling it.

Micro Center Updates RTX 5090 With "Not Carried" Status; One User Reports Manager Pulling the Cards From the Shelves and Sending Them "Somewhere"

While NVIDIA may not announce it officially, we all know that it has silently discontinued the flagship GeForce RTX 50 series card. A few days ago, we reported that NVIDIA has EOL'd the RTX 5090 and will replace it with the upgraded RTX 5080 with 24 GB of memory. This unofficial announcement is backed by several reports, and now some retailers have started showing signs of it.

Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Gaming OC Triple Fan 32GB GDDR7 PCIe 5.0 graphics card listing with a 4.7-star rating, key features including '32GB GDDR7 512-bit Memory,' and trade-in options advertised.

Micro Center, one of the most popular retailers in the US, has now updated all of its RTX 5090 listings to "Not Carried". This indirectly means you can't buy the GPU anymore from its stores, and when we checked a few SKUs, almost all the stores have those GPUs "out of stock". This might indicate that Micro Center's RTX 5090 inventory might have been depleted, but it happened all of a sudden.

A dropdown menu titled 'Please Select Your Store' shows various locations, all marked as 'out of stock,' with a message above reading 'PICK UP IN 18 MINUTES.'

However, before Micro Center updated the listings, one user tried to get his hands on an RTX 5090 by visiting his nearest Micro Center store. The Redditor u/johnnyphotog says that he visited the Micro Center store on October 9, a day before the unofficial announcement of NVIDIA discontinuing the RTX 5090. On that very day, Micro Center was reportedly pulling all the RTX 5090 cards from the shelves.

The user asked the manager about it, but he didn't explain why the store was removing the GPUs all of a sudden. Apparently, the store might have already received information from NVIDIA to discontinue selling those existing RTX 5090 GPUs, and these GPUs were reportedly being sent "somewhere else". We don't know where, but this is what the Redditor reports when he tried to buy an RTX 5090 card.

He says he wanted to buy the RTX 5090 ProArt, which was available at the time, but the store wasn't willing to sell it. So, he "begged" for it and got one. One sales guy then told him, "Congrats on getting the last 5090 we will probably sell". It's clear that NVIDIA is now focusing on directing all those GB202 dies towards its PRO series, and we likely won't have the RTX 5090 on the shelves anymore, at least for now.
