Modern Warfare 4 players have been urged not to share campaign spoilers ahead of the early access release, with the game’s developers stating it’s “time to go dark.”
The latest Call of Duty title officially launches on October 23 but is preceded by two early access periods, with campaign access beginning October 16 and DMZ access from October 20.
Ahead of the first influx of players into the game, Infinity Ward has taken to social media to urge those diving in not to spoil the Modern Warfare 4 campaign.
Infinity Ward Says Don’t Spoil MW4 Campaign
Posting on X, the post reads: “Every decision has a cost; every action has a consequence. In MW4, the story of Task Force 141 reaches a breaking point.
“We’ve got one ask. Let everyone experience it for themselves. Keep the campaign spoilers under wraps. Campaign early access begins October 16. Time to go dark.”
Modern Warfare 4 is the continuation of the story that players last experienced in 2023, returning to the story of Task Force 141 after back-to-back Black Ops releases.
It also marks the first time Infinity Ward has been the lead developer on a Call of Duty title since Modern Warfare 2 in 2022, as MW3 was led by Sledgehammer Games.
The Modern Warfare series was reset in 2019, eight years after the original saga came to a close, and MW4 is now the seventh game to feature the title.
It’s a big year for Call of Duty, however, amid a decision to remove immediate access to the title from XBOX Game Pass services, while MW4 also has to compete with the juggernaut of Grand Theft Auto 6 that lies on the horizon.
