华硕公布 ROG Xbox Ally X20 二十周年版掌机,采用 7.4 英寸 OLED 屏幕
ASUS reveal the ROG Xbox Ally X20 - Anniversary themed system with a 7.4” OLED 120hz Screen
ASUS has announced the ROG Ally X20 at Computex, a special 20th anniversary edition of its gaming handheld series. The device keeps the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme APU used by the ROG Xbox Ally X, but changes the screen and exterior design.
The biggest upgrade is the display. The ROG Ally X20 uses a 7.4-inch OLED panel, replacing the 7-inch IPS-class panel used by the current ROG Xbox Ally X. ASUS has not yet shared the full display specifications, such as resolution, refresh rate, brightness or VRR support.
No word on price yet.........

Hit me up with that price tag, tho
Prices is going to loom over all the computex announcements.
Me looking at the new surface laptop ultra and thinking it starts at 3k gbp
Will cost a literal arm and leg
uhhhhhnnngggghhhh @ translucent exterior, my God...
ASUS knows just how to hit me right in the feels, damn.
Considering it's still Z2E there's no way it's worth it to upgrade my XAX, but man I love that ugly duckling and would gladly throw money at them for it.
Those smaller bezels look great even if the bottom one seem larger, but the bigger concern is price. It's probably gonna be prohibitively expensive, right?

90 % of the companys attending computext would`ve rather canclled i assume but they alrady paid the money ^^
Hell yeah. I was waiting for this. I am going to sell my Ally X and get this one. NICE

"Prohibitively" is likely an understatement.
Easy "ultra class" upgrade for this over the XAX is putting 32 GBs of RAM into it as well, which is going to explode costs.
I wouldn't be shocked if this thing ends up 2k if it has a 120hz 1080p OLED with VRR and 32GBs of RAM + 2 TB SSD. That would put it right up there with the legion 2 in terms of specs.

I would have been more tempted to upgrade my XaX had this been 8" screen, I can't see 0.4" making a big difference? Obviously the OLED is nice but my old man eyes would have liked a larger screen haha.
I assumed this will be 2000 usd. ![]()
god dammit i just bought an xbox ally x a few weeks ago
What will be the first hardware to announce their price as ONLY five easy payments of $299!
ROG Ally X with bigger OLED screen...I'm interested...any extra screen space is an upgrade even if just slightly.
time to finally trade in my OLED Deck and Xbox Ally X and consolidate it down to one device while also taking off most of the cost, until they make the next version the following year.

My guess is the standard is going to increase in price to about $1200 to $1300, so this will probably be $1500 when you factor in the increase in price to the standard and now adding an OLED screen.
That thing should be green, or at least have Xbox/360 style buttons.
OLED and the translucent shell are still nice upgrades over the original though.
Hopefully it has proper HDR support, as that is so nice on Deck.
Claw gave their pricing already, and that thing is ~40% higher performance. This does have OLED and better Linux support, bit worried they're not giving pricing yet.
There was a time when this kind of announcement would excite me, but with things as they currently are, I just feel indifference.
Cool that it's finally getting an OLED display though, it's been the thing that holds my current ROG Ally back compared to my Steam Deck and why it gets very little playtime.

All that matters at this point lmaooooo

That alleyway merchant must have really ripped you off!
And it'll still have the loudest face buttons on Earth
Should have been the original specs. Naturally price dependent but I do think this is worth selling my XAX and maybe steam deck for.
Trouble is, there will be another one before you know it with a bigger screen, then another with a chip update and so on. Despite everything the handheld scene seems to just keep churning out devices

because they know the group of diehards will keep upgrading, only way for thm to extract enough profits from this endeavour.

Is there an expectation of updated models next year? I don't think AMD are working on a Z3E or anything like that are they?
And now update the Xbox ally with this and transparent green
Sounds amazing, price is gonna be interesting.

This is one of my issues, they need to make them silent. I'm trying to play hades 2 at night!

I'm good on waiting for another few years but this would make decisions very difficult.
I read the title as Xbox Ally 720 for a sec and thought "damn, Microsoft actually did it" ![]()
You will have to be an Oil Baron's brat in order to afford this.

ASUS has yet to go a year without a new ROG Ally system. They are treating this pretty much like an annual laptop upgrade.
2023: ASUS ROG Ally (Z1/Z1E)
2024: ASUS ROG Ally X (Z1E)
2025: (ASUS) ROG Xbox Ally/Ally X (Z2/Z2E)
2026: (ASUS) ROG Xbox AllyX20 (Z2E)

I expected 8" screen... to match the switch 2 its the perfect size, i have the Xbox ally x, switch 2 and legion go 2 , and 8 is really the sweet spot.
only 7.4 , same ram .... not sure its worth to upgrade for me
So apparently you cannot buy it standalone but just bundled with AR glasses?

Whats wrong with you?
I didn't even know that OLED could do 120hz! Are we sure it's also VRR?
PS. Is there a global forum option for hiding these red 'fact boxes' on the bottom? I'm not really into politics.
I don't get why most of these handhelds aren't OLED. I don't think the panels take up much of the bill of materials, especially now with RAM and storage prices being what they are. There's Android gaming handhelds out there with 120hz 1080p OLED panels in the €250 range.
So apparently you cannot buy it standalone but just bundled with AR glasses?
Those AR glasses are the most expensive AR Glasses yet I believe? $849... for now.
So combine that with the X version of the Xbox Ally with new features and an OLED 120hz screen?
This bundle is gonna cost like $2000.
Edit- maybe there is a discounted bundle price? $1800?

I just wonder what chip would be in a 2027 device, surely they couldn't just reuse the Z2E once more, what else could they add?

Wait, what? Where did they say this, that's crazy!
EDIT: Just seen the video above, wow, why lock out people from buying it standalone? Unless this is a special 2026 anniversary bundle and then 2027 we get this same upgraded XaX without the 20th gold stickers?
Forcing this to be a bundle is honestly a crazy decision. It cuts the sales potential of this thing massively. The only way it makes sense if this is just a brief limited edition run to squeeze early adopters shortly followed by a non-limited one.
Forcing you to buy the glasses with the system, sure is...one way to twist that pricing in a different light.

Braces with yellow rubber bands.
Combine memory constraints with a likely surplus of unwanted x-real glasses and this is what we get, Asus flying youtubers out to sell a $2K+ bundle to their audiences.
Maybe we get this as a more general refresh next year since AMD likely will not have any chip upgrades ready for 2027 handheld PCs either.
