PlatinumGames and Shift Up have commented about the new Bayonetta collaboration for Stellar Blade.

In case you missed it, for the Nintendo Switch 2 launch next month, the two companies teamed up to add special costumes based on the character. Eve will be able to wear four brand-new outfits inspired by Bayonetta.

In a joint interview with PlatinumGames CEO Atsushi Inaba that was published by Famitsu, Shift Up’s Kim Hyung Tae said that the studio has long been interested in a Bayonetta collaboration. With the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Stellar Blade coming along, it seemed like the right time to make that happen.

Kim expressed a great deal of appreciation to PlatinumGames for working with Shift Up on this. The two sides also indicated that they could partner up again in the future.

So what are the particulars about how it was decided to do this collaboration?

Kim: For a long time I had the thought that we should do a collaboration with Bayonetta in my mind, and kept thinking when the right time to reach out would be. And then at the time we started developing for the Nintendo Switch 2, I thought that a unique opportunity had come.

I’m truly grateful to have been granted permission to do this. This time the collaboration is just costumes, but if there is another opportunity, I think I would like to put a lot more into it, and would like to work together in some shape or form.

Inaba: It is I who should thank you. We are honored that Kim-san would say it in a way that makes it feel like we accepted the collaboration, but we were also actually exploring the way to make collaborations with Bayonetta. Amongst that, it was truly perfect timing, and for me personally, honestly speaking, I am truly so grateful.

Kim: Okay… so what should we do next?!

Inaba: I find conversations like this really fun (laughs). Sometimes new things come from conversations like this.

And sometimes they become reality, right?

Kim: If that’s the case, leave the next Bayonetta character designs to me.

Inaba: You’re really jumping into that right. I feel that would really sell. (laughs)

(Laughs)

Kim: If PlatinumGames made a desk for me, I’d be coming into work everyday (laughs). Ah… my CBO is looking at me quite intensely. Let’s put that conversation on hold for now…

Inaba: But, that kind of collaboration really does look fun. It looks like it could be good if we design something and make it into a kind of cross collaboration.

And I think that kind of collaboration would make the fans happy, too.

Inaba: I know I just said it, but these kinds of conversations really can become reality.

Kim: I’m not just saying this because we are here now, but I really hope that we are able in some form to work on each others’ titles.

Inaba: That’s right. I don’t like making empty comments, and I really think from the bottom of my heart it would be great if we could do something.

Speaking of Bayonetta, Inaba commented on the future of the franchise. We have his comments here.
