Peekpal 是一款即将推出的适用于 Steam Machine 的彩色电子纸面板

The Steam Machine having a customizable Faceplate was a great idea, as we're beginning to see more fun creations like the Peekpal.

What is it? A colour E-Paper Faceplate using the E Ink Spectra 6, with everything configured and set up especially for the Steam Machine. It can display photos, artwork, news and more. The developer is making a library of different dynamic frames to display on it along with providing various public-domain artworks. There's also a mobile app planned to make it easy to change via your phone or tablet.

It also has a stand, so you can just use it as a photo frame anywhere.

Speaking to the developer Pierre-Arnaud they told me: "Peekpal is a passion project that I started as soon as the Steam Machine was announced. I spend pretty much all my free-time on it alongside my full-time job. It's the E ink device I always wanted, and hopefully it will strike a chord with a few other people too. The vision is for it to become a platform showcasing all kinds of content, emphasizing gaming, "nerd" culture, and art. The hardware is nearly finalized, and the factory is lined up. I am now trying to make the product known to as many people as possible and gearing up for a crowd-funding campaign".

This seems like a really cool idea - hopefully it goes well.

Their current plan is around $149 retail with a $79 Kickstarter Early Bird.
