Wardogs Season 2 Update Bring New Weapons, Vehicles and Major Balance Changes

Wardogs Season 2 launches today (October 15), introducing four new weapons, four vehicles, rainy weather and extensive gameplay changes to Bulkhead’s multiplayer tactical shooter. The update also addresses several longstanding complaints, including weapon damage, slow progression, faction imbalances and vehicle handling.

The developer confirmed that servers will undergo maintenance between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. UTC, but there’s a small chance additional fixes may need to go out afterwards once Season 2 goes live.

What’s New in Wardogs Season 2?

Wardogs Season 2 Update Bring New Weapons, Vehicles and Major Balance Changes

As listed in the patch notes, Season 2 introduces four weapons: the TCX-SPR assault rifle, PP-19 Bizon SMG, Evo-3 Ultra LMG and M14 marksman rifle. These arrive alongside additional attachments, including optics, muzzle devices, magazines and bipods. Players also gain access to Molotov cocktails, which can damage enemies and burn destructible foliage.

Four vehicles join the existing lineup, including the lightweight Wolf-110 transport, an armed Wolf-110 equipped with an M2 Browning, the T-72B3 main battle tank and the Flakpanzer Gepard anti-air vehicle. Three construction options have also been added: the Wooden Step, Large Shelter and MG Nest, the latter providing a manned machine-gun emplacement.

Another significant addition is rainy weather, which affects more than the game’s visuals. Rain reduces spotting distances, changes how environmental audio behaves, and weakens Molotov fires. Thunder is synchronized across servers and can temporarily mask footsteps, potentially creating opportunities for players to reposition without being heard.

Season 2 also introduces squad coordination improvements, a revised loadout purchasing interface, and additional weapon and vehicle cosmetics. However, the previously announced Wager Vendor will not be available at launch, with Bulkhead confirming that the experimental feature will arrive later in the season.

Wardogs Season 2 Patch Notes Address Weapon Balance and Faction Problems

One of the biggest changes concerns weapon damage, particularly high-caliber ammunition used by assault rifles, DMRs and LMGs. Bulkhead explained that these weapons were dealing damage comparable to sniper rifles despite having significantly higher rates of fire.

To address this, the developer has reduced base damage for several ammunition types:

  • .308 Winchester: 25% reduction.
  • 7.62x54mmR: 20% reduction.
  • 7.62x39mm: 19% reduction.
  • .50 caliber: 16% reduction.

Sniper rifles receive increased hit-location damage to compensate, while DMRs, assault rifles and LMGs have undergone additional balancing. Level 3 and Level 4 armor now provide 50% and 60% damage reduction, respectively, down from 55% and 65%. Suppression has also been reworked to make incoming fire more noticeable and consistent.

Bulkhead is additionally attempting to address the poor performance of Lonestar, Wardogs’ Blue faction, which has developed a reputation for losing matches. For Season 2, Lonestar players receive additional cash and XP for victories and teamplay actions, while the faction’s uniforms have been adjusted to make them less conspicuous. Spawn positions on Bakurani have also been redesigned.

A new 20% vendor discount applies to any faction trailing the second-place team by at least 40 points. Meanwhile, restrictions on switching teams aim to discourage players from abandoning losing factions late in matches.

Progression has received substantial changes, with Bulkhead reducing the XP required to advance through role tracks. Reaching Level 20 now requires 111,500 XP instead of 250,000, a reduction of more than 55%. Many attachments have also been moved to earlier unlock levels, making equipment more accessible.

Construction costs have been adjusted to discourage excessive fortification building, while drill rigs, mortars and defensive systems have received balancing changes. Vehicle handling has been refined, alongside fixes for turret synchronization, collision problems and several controller-related issues.

The update also introduces a team-kill forgiveness and punishment system, region-based server ping limits and improvements to server browsing. Players joining empty servers can now earn rewards for helping populate matches.

With changes spanning almost every major gameplay system, Wardogs Season 2 represents Bulkhead’s most substantial update since Early Access began. The developer has emphasized that balancing will remain an ongoing process, particularly as players experiment with the new weapons, vehicles and faction incentives.
