Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is coming out tomorrow, or today if you live in New Zealand (?), and it’s set to be the most monumental Call of Duty title in many years. It has already proven to be a rampant success, hitting record-high review scores on Steam as players poured into the campaign’s early access window to soak up everything available.

In my review, I dubbed it the best Call of Duty campaign ever, and it is.

More recently, folks started getting hands-on with DMZ, the ‘action extraction’ shooter build on the MW4 platform. Now, with launch mere hours away, the kind folks at Activision have provided the full drop of Modern Warfare 4 patch notes for launch.

Every Change Coming to Modern Warfare 4 at Launch

Activision and Infinity Ward first walked through everything that’s coming to Modern Warfare 4 when it hits the open market tomorrow, October 23. From 20 multiplayer maps to 33 weapons, and from 33 Operators to a monumental Prestige system, there’s a plethora of content lined up for Call of Duty fans.

This all represents one of the heartiest content slates available at launch for a Call of Duty game ever.

The game’s first season has been outlined already, DMZ is here and growing at an immense pace, customization runs deep, and community-driven feedback has well and truly landed.

One area the team has focused on beyond the recent beta test is weapon tuning and balancing:

SMGs are now more efficient in close to mid-range combat, powerful one hit kill weapons are tempered with flinch and damage tuning, and all weapons have had a deep balance pass to ensure the weapon you pick is a choice, not a requirement.

We have also combed through all our attachments and tuned them to make sure Gunsmith allows flexibility and balance. Advanced Weapon Stats are also available at launch, so you’ll know everything you need to make the right choice for your playstyle.

The team stressed there are ‘no redundant unlocks’ in the attachment ecosystem, and once you’ve unlocked an attachment, it’ll be available for every weapon that can use it.

Weapon Prestige has returned, bringing back Apex variants, perk distribution has been reworked, and some critical abilities have been adjusted:

  • Battle Hardened will now more effectively negate most of the effects from Tactical grenades like the Flash, Concussion, and Screamer Mine.
  • Resupply has been buffed to provide your first recharge faster.
  • Blood Rush has been updated so that pressing the sprint key automatically triggers Tactical Sprint by default. If you prefer to manage this directly, head to the Movement Advanced Settings to adjust it.

Tactical Sprint is no longer available by default, multiplayer spawns have been adjusted on every map, and some killstreak changes have been implemented, such as making UAVs more resilient.
