Void Lancer now plays on Windows: no setup needed
You no longer need to know your way around an emulator to play Void Lancer on a PC. The new **Windows download** contains the full game with the VICE emulator already set up: install it with the itch.io app and press *Play*, or unzip it and double-click the launcher.
What's inside:
- **The same disk image** as the C64 version, running on an emulated PAL C64 with a 1541 drive, so the fast loader works as on the real machine
- **Enhanced mode switched on**: a 512 KB REU, so stages load in a flash, and a second SID, so the sound effects never steal voices from the music
- **Keyboard or gamepad**: arrow keys and Left Ctrl, or D-pad/stick and buttons
- **Full screen** by default; Alt+Enter for a window, Alt+Q to quit
- **Hi-scores saved** in the game folder, just like on a real disk
Windows may show a warning the first time, because the files are not digitally signed. Click *More info*, then *Run anyway*, or tick *Unblock* in the zip's Properties before extracting it. Installing through the itch.io app avoids the warning altogether.
VICE is free software (GPL) and is included unmodified; its source code is available on the game page.
The C64 disk images are unchanged.
