A few months after leaking, the Xbox Nano controller has been unveiled.
Pocketable Gaming Hardware
The Xbox Nano Controller has finally been detailed, a few months after leaking via a Brazilian patent filing. The controller comes in at roughly 5 inches long, weighing 3.5 ounces. It is being touted as a viable “on-the-go” option, with its small form factor.
It includes:
- Rechargeable Battery
- Programmable Action Button
- Xbox Wireless & Bluetooth Support
As part of a promo, select Samsung TVs may come with the Nano controller and two months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The original leak report stated:
The documentation obtained by Tecnoblog reveals that the control will come with a 500 mAh battery and that, in terms of connectivity, it uses Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 6 (restricted to 20 MHz band). The chip used for this is Realtek’s RTL8730E, with two 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A7 cores.
This indicated a Wi-Fi direction option for cloud streaming. The Xbox Wire blog post makes no mention of WI-FI Direct technology. Finally, the blog post mentions an upcoming package with Meta, similar to Samsung’s, most likely for their Quest 3 VR headsets.
The controller appears to offer up the full range of Xbox features, just in a smaller package. The original leak had indicated more of a cloud focus than this first official announcement has indicated.
