AION 2 climbs 35 places to number 6 on Steam's most-played chart despite Mixed reviews

At 17:20 UTC on 12 October 2026, 357331 people were playing it on Steam.

From number 41 to number 6 in one week

Last week AION 2 sat at number 41 on the most-played chart. This week it is at number 6, a climb of 35 places, with a daily peak of 392300 players.

The three games at the top of the chart still operate on another scale. Counter-Strike 2 leads with a daily peak of 1404227 players, ahead of Dota 2 on 1034502 and PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS on 713683.

Below that group, the comparison is closer. AION 2’s daily peak of 392300 is higher than those of Deadlock, at 220575, and Wallpaper Engine, at 118092, even though both sit above it this week, at number 5 and number 4 respectively. Its 357331 concurrent players at the time of checking also outnumber Deadlock’s daily peak.

15602 positive reviews against 10971 negative

The player count is large. The verdict is split. Of the 26573 Steam user reviews posted so far, 15602 are positive and 10971 negative, which gives AION 2 a 59% positive score and the “Mixed” label.

That leaves NC with a launch that is drawing a crowd on the scale of Steam’s busiest games while a sizeable share of the people reviewing it are not recommending it. The two numbers point in different directions, and both come from the same opening week.

Free to play, Windows only

NC is both developer and publisher of AION 2. On Steam it is listed under the Action, Adventure, Massively Multiplayer, RPG and Free To Play genres.

There is no purchase price: the game is free to play, which removes any cost barrier for those curious enough to try it. It is available on Windows only, so its 357331 players at 17:20 UTC on 12 October 2026 were all on PC.
