Digital pre-order owners of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 can start playing DMZ Early Access at 10 AM PT on Tuesday, October 20. The extraction mode unlocks at the same moment worldwide, three days before the full launch on October 23.

Activision announced the start time through the official Call of Duty Updates account on X. The early window is a digital pre-order reward first revealed on October 9 in the DMZ deep dive on the Call of Duty blog, and a required update was scheduled for release on all platforms by 9 AM PT on Monday, October 19.

DMZ Early Access opens simultaneously in every region instead of rolling out at local midnight. That places the start on the evening of October 20 in Europe and in the early hours of October 21 across East Asia and Australia.

Snipers’ Nest

Access requires a digital pre-order or pre-purchase of the Standard Digital Edition or the Vault Edition. This is the same requirement as Campaign Early Access, so anyone who started the story on October 16 already qualifies. The benefit applies on every launch platform.

DMZ Early Access Progress Carries Into Launch

DMZ Operators

Nothing earned during the early window resets at launch. XP and Weapon XP from DMZ Early Access count toward career progression and unlocks, including Weapon Camos.

Early Access covers all of DMZ, including the Hajin Exclusion Zone, the Forward Operating Base, Story Missions, Dynamic Operations, and Free Roam. DMZ runs its own 70-level progression track, and DMZ XP still counts when a squad fails to exfil.

Vault Edition owners also start with a third Active Duty Operator slot instead of two. The map, threats, and progression systems are detailed in the earlier Modern Warfare 4 DMZ deep dive coverage.

Modern Warfare 4 Early Access and Launch Schedule

Infinity Ward is opening Modern Warfare 4 in three stages, with each mode arriving on a separate date. Players still working through the story can follow the Modern Warfare 4 campaign walkthrough, since every mission unlocks a reward for Multiplayer and DMZ.

• Campaign Early Access: October 16, for digital pre-orders.
• DMZ Early Access: October 20 at 10 AM PT, for digital pre-orders.
• Full launch: October 23, with Campaign, DMZ, and Multiplayer for all players.

Multiplayer stays locked for every player until the full launch on October 23.
