Capcom reveals Pragmata’s horror origins
Capcom 透露《Pragmata》开发早期曾计划更偏向恐怖题材,后因与 Resident Evil 定位重合而放弃。该作已于今年登陆 Nintendo Switch 2,目前正在打折但优惠今日结束。
According to Capcom, the original plan for Pragmata was for the game to be a little more focused on horror.
Given the project’s lengthy history, it shouldn’t be a huge surprise that the game underwent various changes during its development. Capcom first announced the title in 2020, but it wasn’t until this year that it finally launched.
Masachika Kawata, the lead producer of Pragmata, revealed this in an interview with The Ringer. Ultimately, the team moved away from that since introducing a new IP with a horror focus didn’t make the most sense given that Capcom already has Resident Evil, which is a massive horror franchise.
Kawata’s full words:
“A lot earlier, Capcom experimented with what type of game it could be. At one point, there was an idea to make something a little bit more horror focused. Stepping back a little, this was going to be a new series, a new IP, and so horror, which seems to have a lot in common with Resident Evil, didn’t seem like the most compelling use of the new title.”
Pragmata is available on Nintendo Switch 2. There’s a discount available for the game right now, but the sale ends today – check that out here.
