FalleN 认为再夺一冠可重振 FURIA 势头

FURIA have secured a place in the Thunderpick World Championship 2026 semifinals after defeating Brazilian rivals Legacy 2-1 in Malta. Following the victory, Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo explained why another tournament title could be especially valuable for a roster dealing with an exhausting schedule and limited practice time.

FURIA dropped their own Cache pick 10-13 against Legacy but responded convincingly. They dominated Inferno 13-5 before closing Mirage 13-8 to advance directly into the playoffs.

FURIA finally overcome Legacy

The result also ended a frustrating run against Legacy. FURIA had lost their previous two meetings with the South American rivals this season, including encounters at the Esports World Cup and FISSURE Playground 3.

This time, FURIA adapted.

The team experimented with its setup on Inferno, with FalleN moving away from his usual CT-side B support role and taking a rotator position instead. KSCERATO received greater responsibility around B, a change FalleN said was based on the team’s belief that the position offered significant potential.

FURIA’s route through the Thunderpick group stage has now included:

• A 2-0 opening victory against BETBOOM.
• A 2-1 win over Legacy to secure a semifinal berth.
• Victories on Inferno and Mirage after losing Cache against Legacy.

The Legacy result was particularly significant because the matchup has increasingly developed into a battle between two leading South American teams.

Heavy schedule is changing FURIA’s preparation

FalleN also addressed one of FURIA’s biggest problems during the current stretch of competition: the lack of meaningful practice time between tournaments.

Thunderpick represents another stop in an extremely busy schedule for the Brazilian organization. Rather than returning home for extended preparation blocks, FURIA have repeatedly moved from one event to the next.

That has forced the team to change its routine.

According to FalleN, FURIA have sometimes been practicing two, three or even four maps on match days because there is simply not enough time available elsewhere. He also described players resting immediately after practice because of the physical fatigue created by the schedule.

FURIA are therefore trying to win tournaments while simultaneously using match days to maintain and refine their own game.

The situation makes every deep tournament run more demanding, even for a roster accustomed to playing regularly at international events.

Winning could provide the boost FURIA need

Despite several competitive results during 2026, FalleN believes FURIA’s standards have changed.

The veteran explained that the team’s previous successes raised expectations. Playoff appearances and strong finishes are no longer enough on their own. FURIA now measure themselves against championship-level results.

FalleN pointed to the effect tournament victories had on the team previously. Winning created greater confidence inside the roster and improved the atmosphere around daily competition.

He believes another title could produce a similar effect.

That makes the Thunderpick World Championship particularly interesting for FURIA. The eight-team event in Malta features a $1 million prize pool, with $250,000 reserved for the champion.

A successful weekend would deliver more than prize money.

• Winning could restore some of the confidence generated by earlier trophy runs.
• A final appearance would validate FURIA’s recent workload and consistency.
• Another title could create momentum heading into the remaining 2026 events.
• Failure to convert another playoff appearance would leave the team’s title drought as an ongoing concern.

FalleN made clear that respectable finishes still matter, but the internal target is now higher.

Semifinal offers another major test

FURIA are scheduled to play their Thunderpick World Championship semifinal on October 17. Their opponent will come from the matchup between Aurora and 9z.

FalleN did not express a strong preference between the two possible opponents. He considers Aurora stronger on paper but also acknowledged that 9z already demonstrated their potential by defeating Aurora earlier in the tournament.

Either matchup should provide another difficult test.

FURIA’s ability to recover after losing Cache against Legacy was encouraging, particularly because their Inferno and Mirage performances were significantly stronger. Their resilience in the series also suggests the demanding schedule has not prevented the team from responding effectively under pressure.

The larger challenge is turning that consistency into another championship.

Assessment

FURIA’s position is unusual because the team is clearly competitive while still feeling that its season lacks something important.

Reaching playoffs and Major finals demonstrates a high competitive ceiling, but FalleN’s comments show how expectations have evolved. Once a roster begins winning titles, strong placements alone can start to feel incomplete.

The Thunderpick World Championship therefore represents a valuable opportunity.

FURIA have already navigated the group stage without losing a series and finally defeated a Legacy roster that had caused them problems earlier in the season. A semifinal victory would put them within one match of another international trophy.

Whether winning actually produces the same momentum FalleN remembers cannot be guaranteed. What is clear is that another championship would provide tangible validation for a team currently balancing ambitious goals with one of the most demanding schedules in top-level Counter-Strike.
