The Layton games haven't aged at all, glad to see that the remake just made the characters 3D and everything HD but didn't change the aesthetics.

There was a trailer for one of the DS games with HD cutscenes on my Eternal Diva blu-ray, so they do exist...

Yeah, this is me. A remake doesn't excite me to nearly the degree that just a straight port collection would have. I'd love to play through all of them again, but I don't wanna wait 5 years for them to slowly churn them out or lose interested halfway through. Disappointed.

I'm playing the og on my 3DS. Holds up just fine on there and the piecemeal nature of completing a few puzzles, saving and then moving on works well on that system.

You mean upscaling the original animation? Or is there more AI generated stuff there? IMO "remastering" with upscaling methods is different from using generative AI to create something from scratch.

That remains to be seen, all I know is that Level-5 have been extremely vocal about being all in on AI (including the genAI kind) so my trust in the company isn't high.

The 3D models are a downgrade. I just played this game on a tablet and the mobile version is beautiful.

Incredible!! The 3d Models are slightly odd, but I am just happy to be able to play an HD version. Hopefully this does well enough and they can get the sequels out at a nice pace.
